PRESS RELEASE

Many Ways to Get Involved and Support Democracy

Here are some important events organized by the MCDC Rally Committee and by our partners across the county.

Saturday, February 28 – Melt Ice Rally on the Hamilton Village Green from 2 to 3 pm. The Reverend Brooks Cato, pastor of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, will speak. Steve Blais, of the Eaton Democrats, will lead resistance singing.  Bring non-perishable goods for the food drive.  Organized by the Rally Committee.

Tuesday, March 3 – There will be a CNY multi-county virtual fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli.  Because of recent state election laws, small contributions get multiplied.  A $50 contribution grows to $600 in campaign funds. Register here.

Thursday, March 5 – “Water Cools the Planet” film at 7 p.m. in the Catherine Cummings Theater, Cazenovia.  Free.

Sunday, March 8 - St. Patrick’s Day MCDC fundraiser from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Theodore’s Restaurant, Canastota.  The event will begin with a social hour with music by the Syracuse Irish Session, snacks and a cash bar. We will then have a return of Irish dancers from the St. Francis Academy of Irish Dance; we were all wowed by them last year. There will be a traditional dinner of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, and carrots.  A vegetarian option of baked ziti is available along with chicken nuggets for the kids.

Soft drinks and cake for dessert are provided. For our finale, we will pull up our chairs for an Irish sing-along led by Steve Blais and Erin Moore, chorus teacher for Christian Brothers Academy. Buy your tickets here.

Wednesday, March 11 - Meet and Greet Fundraiser for Mandi Drake, candidate for NY Senate 53rd District. The event will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at The Shoppes at Johnny Appleseed, 3402 Old State Road, Erieville, in the on-site eatery called the Apple Kitchen. A selection of homemade soups and desserts will be provided. There will be other selections off the menu, plus craft beer and wine, available for purchase.  Sponsored by the Town of Nelson Democrats and Dave and Carolyn Holmes. Register now.

Tuesday, March 24 – Hamilton Public Library, 5:30 to 7 p.m. sign-making for No Kings Rally. Some materials provided or BYO.

Saturday, March 28- No Kings 3.0 Rally, 2 to 3 pm.  This looks to be our biggest rally yet.  Stay tuned for more information.

Sunday, April 19 - Karen Savoca & Pete Heitzman fundraising concert for Congressman John Mannion at Madison Hall, Morrisville. Tickets start at $25. More info to follow.
